I think there are problems with reclaims and immovable items but you didn't say you reclaimed the fort. Otherwise, I don't know what to say, I've never had a problem with it that was not one of the above. Unless you use more than just one Tile in the Zone with one of those on top of a hole or slope. 2) No need to create a chute or other way to get refuse down multiple Z levels to the magma sea. I'm relatively new to this game, but having read the quick start guide and gone through my first 4 Fortresses, I would suspect that I would know how to remedy this (though I am still a long ways away from mastering Fortresses).
